Basketball Recap: Ja?Naisha Carney's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Westover over Seventy-First

Westover blew Seventy-First out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Seventy-First got their revenge. The Westover Wolverines fell just short of the Seventy-First Falcons by a score of 49-47. The Wolverines were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Westover lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ja?Naisha Carney, who posted 18 points and three steals. Carney is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Dahliyana Baldwin, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine steals.

The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 6-3. As for Seventy-First, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Westover didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-47 victory against Cape Fear on the 20th. As for Seventy-First, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 70-49 defeat against Terry Sanford on the 20th.
