After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last four games, Cardinal Mooney finally came back down to earth on Friday. They lost 12-2 to the Lakewood Ranch Mustangs. The Cougars' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Cardinal Mooney saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Erin Griffith, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Cardinal Mooney's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Lakewood Ranch, they moved to 4-7 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Cardinal Mooney will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Indian Rocks Christian at 6:00 p.m. on March 25th. After both having extra time off, Lakewood Ranch and Manatee will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field one another at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th. Manatee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
