Softball Game Preview: Jones Trojans vs. Northside - Pinetown Panthers

Jones is 0-10 against Northside - Pinetown since April of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Trojans will be playing at home against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Jones is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

On Friday, Jones needed a bit of extra time to put away Lejeune. They walked away with a 10-5 win over the Devil Pups. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.

Payten Plyler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over ten innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-6 with four RBI and one triple.

In other batting news, Makenzie Maines was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances. Riley Murphy was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Northside - Pinetown didn't have quite enough to beat East Carteret on Friday and fell 8-7.

Jones' victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Northside - Pinetown, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-7.

Jones might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Northside - Pinetown in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
