Football Recap: Greene County Wildcats vs. George County Rebels

After flying high against West Harrison last Friday, Greene County came back down to earth. The Greene County Wildcats received a blow on Friday as they fell 51-36 to the George County Rebels. The Wildcats gained 196 more yards on the day, but it was the Rebels that made the best use of them.

Despite the loss, Greene County still got an impressive performance from Coby King, who rushed for 137 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also threw for 418 yards and a touchdown while picking up 11.9 yards per attempt. The dominant performance gave King a new career-high in rushing yards. 143 of those passing yards were hauled in by Javon Watts, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Even though they lost, Greene County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 221 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as George County only rushed for 126.

Deuce Knight had an outrageously good game for George County as he threw for 317 yards and five touchdowns on only 18 passes, and also rushed for 51 yards on only six carries. Montrell Dortch did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 104 receiving yards.

Greene County's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for George County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Greene County will take on Wayne County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for George County, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Vancleave at 7:00 p.m. on September 20th.
