Basketball Recap: New Albany Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

New Albany won the last time they faced Pontotoc and things went their way on Monday too. The New Albany Bulldogs secured a 69-65 W over the Pontotoc Warriors. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Leading New Albany to victory were Issac Gilbert and Decorion Hardin. Gilbert dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards, while Hardin went 5 of 10 on his way to 15 points. The dominant performance also gave Gilbert a new career-high in steals (six). Kamron Ray was another key player, putting up 13 points and five rebounds.

New Albany smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matchups.

New Albany pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.6 points per game. As for Pontotoc, they moved to 8-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Albany won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Byhalia at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Byhalia has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Pontotoc, they will also get right back to it: they'll square off against New Hope at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Pontotoc's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.
