Basketball Game Preview: Mount Dora Hurricanes vs. Belleview Rattlers

The Mount Dora Hurricanes will face off against the Belleview Rattlers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mount Dora has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

On Tuesday, Mount Dora came up short against East Ridge and fell 51-40. While losing is never fun, the Hurricanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 378th, while the Knights are ranked 180th).

Meanwhile, Belleview took a blow against Dunnellon on Saturday, falling 54-16. The contest marked the Rattlers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Despite the loss, Belleview saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jazmyn Rivas posted five points and six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for Rivas. Haleigh Irwin was another key player, putting up two points and 11 rebounds.

Mount Dora's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Belleview, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
