Baseball Game Preview: Pleasanton Eagles vs. Schulenburg Shorthorns

The Pleasanton Eagles will square off against the Schulenburg Shorthorns at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pleasanton has five straight wins, Schulenburg has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Pleasanton's tournament run continued when they took on Brazos on Friday. Pleasanton came out on top against Brazos by a score of 7-2.

Marcus Guardiola made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Erik Coronado was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He also put up a triple, which was his first of the season. Jayden Arrendondo was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Schulenburg didn't have quite enough to beat Palacios on Friday and fell 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Shorthorns have lost by just one run.

Schulenburg's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Pleasanton, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
