After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Galway, Schoharie was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 22-10 margin over the Johnstown Sir Bills. The Storm's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Kayla Hayes made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and eight unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Schoharie got a massive performance out of Arabella Donzelli, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Schoharie's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Johnstown, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Coming up, Schoharie will venture away from home to square off against Cobleskill-Richmondville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Storm surely won't give up without a fight. As for Johnstown, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Canajoharie at 7:00 p.m.
