Football Recap: Hernando Tigers vs. Lafayette Commodores
If Hernando was feeling good fresh off their 38-17 takedown of Center Hill last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers fell 17-12 to the Lafayette Commodores on Friday. The Tigers were red-hot offensively heading into the contest (they scored no less than 31 points in the four games prior), but the Commodores' defense proved too tough.
Asher Lawson threw for 120 yards on 14 of 26 attempts. Reid Sanders was his top target, picking up 33 receiving yards. On the ground, Cooper Lankford rushed for 45 yards.
Lafayette was led to victory by Luke Anderson and Kamaron Pritchard. Anderson rushed for 61 yards and one score on only seven carries, while Pritchard rushed for 59 yards and one touchdown. Coming up, Hernando is taking a road trip to take on Horn Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Tigers 12.4, the Eagles 15) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Lafayette, they will host PURE Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Commodores are facing the Royals at the right time seeing as the Royals are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
