Basketball Recap: Goodrich Takes a Loss

If Goodrich was riding high fresh off their 49-24 takedown of Burkeville last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Goodrich Hornets took a 41-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Leggett Pirates on Tuesday. The Hornets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pirates earlier this season, when they won 51-47.

Leggett found their leader in sophomore Bianca Perkins, who went 7 for 15 on her way to 19 points and five steals. Perkins is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Tamera Henderson, who posted 13 points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

Goodrich's loss dropped their record down to 12-18. As for Leggett, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-16.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Goodrich will challenge Broaddus at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Broaddus will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Goodrich surely won't give up without a fight. Leggett has already played their next matchup (against Zavalla), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
