Baseball Recap: Sierra Comes Up Short

Sierra had lost five straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 6-16 to make it six. They fell just short of the Mountain House Mustangs by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Timberwolves have suffered since February 26th.

Wyatt Bauer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

As for Mountain House, the victory snapped their losing streak at 18 games and leaves them with a 5-18-1 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since February 26th.

On Mountain House's side, not much got past Tommy Neri, who gave up just six hits to keep Sierra off the board. Neri also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Mustangs are 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-17-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Mountain House secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Callahan Healy, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Healy has posted since back in February.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mountain House beat Sierra by a score of 14-4 on Wednesday.
