Softball Game Preview: Fort Payne Wildcats vs. Skyline Vikings

The Fort Payne Wildcats will head out to face off against the Skyline Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fort Payne has three straight victories, Skyline has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Fort Payne is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Gadsden City on Thursday as they made off with a 26-12 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Fort Payne let Cory Kramer and Carley Cash run wild. Kramer fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances, while Cash got on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four runs gave Cash a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brylee Parks, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

Fort Payne always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Skyline came up short against Hayden on Saturday and fell 6-3.

Skyline's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Fort Payne, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Everything went Fort Payne's way against Skyline in their previous meeting back in March, as Fort Payne made off with a 14-2 win. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
