Basketball Recap: Rocky Hill Country Day Falls Despite Big Games from Reilly Darrow and Lily Sokol

Rocky Hill Country Day was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 49-31 to the Hyde Phoenix. The Mariners were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Phoenix apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Rocky Hill Country Day had strong showings from Lily Sokol, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 15 boards, and Reilly Darrow, who posted five points. Sokol's afternoon made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points.

Even though they lost, Rocky Hill Country Day smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive contests.

Rocky Hill Country Day now has a losing record of 8-9.

Looking ahead, Rocky Hill Country Day will be playing at home against Bancroft at 4:00 p.m. on February 24th. Hyde does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
