Basketball Recap: O'connell's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

O'Connell needed a changed in momentum after dropping three straight games and they got it from Bryas Dixon-Debrow. The Buccaneers walked away with a 40-30 win over the Hempstead Bobcats on Friday with plenty of help from Dixon-Debrow, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 16 boards. He is becoming a predictor of O'Connell's success: when he posts at least eight rebounds the team is undefeated (and 1-5 when he doesn't).

O'Connell's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Hempstead, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-3.

O'Connell didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-41 win against Varsity Opponent on the 5th. Hempstead has also already played their next game (against Giddings), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
