Basketball Recap: Briarwood Christian Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Briarwood Christian walked away with it. They walked away with a 62-49 win over the Valley Rams on Saturday. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while the Rams are ranked 219th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Azerion Jennings, who went 6 of 13 to rack up 14 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jayden Weaver, who went 5 for 10 en route to 12 points and six boards.

Briarwood Christian's record is now 19-11. As for Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

Looking ahead, Briarwood Christian will challenge Montevallo on Tuesday. Montevallo will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Briarwood Christian surely won't give up without a fight. Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
