Volleyball Recap: Bridgeport Central Takes a Loss

Bridgeport Central was the 3-2 winner over Kolbe-Cathedral when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Hilltoppers fell 3-1 to the Cougars on Monday. While the Hilltoppers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cougars 25-20 in the first set.

Bridgeport Central couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Kolbe-Cathedral a tough time in the third set. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-18, 32-30, 25-21.

Malik Denton paced Bridgeport Central's offense, picking up 12 kills. Denton got some help from Kevyn Dias and his 21 assists. Denton was also solid from the service line: he led the team with three aces.

Angel Gomez was a one-man wrecking crew For Kolbe-Cathedral. as he had 30 digs. That's the most digs Gomez has posted since back in April of 2024.

Bridgeport Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Kolbe-Cathedral, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Bridgeport Central will square off against Bunnell at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Kolbe-Cathedral, they will challenge Westhill at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
