Baseball Preview: Savannah Savages vs. Benton Cardinals

Savannah is 9-1 against Benton since April of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Savannah Savages will be playing in front of their home fans against the Benton Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Meanwhile, Benton stacked a 13th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They beat Lexington by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-2. The victory was nothing new for Benton as they're now sitting on nine straight.

Steven Wahlgren looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Carson Schmidt was a standout: he scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Chris Coy was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Savannah's win bumped their record up to 18-9. As for Benton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season.
