United beats Del Rio for their fourth straight win

Recap: United Longhorns vs. Del Rio Rams

The United Longhorns had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 45-14 victory over Del Rio. The result was nothing new for United, who have now won three matches by 27 points or more so far this season.

It was another big night for Atzel Chavez Jr., who threw for 275 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Rolando San Miguel got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Despite the defeat, Del Rio saw an underclassman step up: Fermin Rodriguez rushed for 156 yards and a touchdown.

United's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Del Rio, United South, and Seguin. As for Del Rio, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. United will take on Laredo LBJ at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Laredo LBJ will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 917th, while United is ranked 359th). As for Del Rio, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Alexander at 7:00 p.m. Alexander is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
