Basketball Game Preview: Hillgrove Hawks vs. Cherokee Warriors

The Hillgrove Hawks will take on the Cherokee Warriors on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Hillgrove is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They claimed a resounding 61-31 win over Brookwood. The victory was familiar territory for the Hawks, who have now won nine contests in a row.

Meanwhile, Cherokee had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.3 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Black Knights 69-38. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Black Knights are ranked 76th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hillgrove's win bumped their record up to 22-7. As for Cherokee, their victory bumped their record up to 25-4.

Hillgrove didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Cherokee in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 64-58 win. Does Hillgrove have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cherokee turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
