Basketball Recap: Clarkson/Leigh Patriots vs. Pender Pendragons
Clarkson/Leigh was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They had to suffer through a 75-21 loss at the hands of the Pender Pendragons. The matchup marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
When it comes to explaining why Clarkson/Leigh lost, don't look at Wyatt Crosley. Despite the final result, he posted 12 points and five rebounds. Tyce Larson also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.
Pender got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alex Roth out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. That's the most points Roth has posted since back in January of 2024. Zander Welsh was another key player, going 5 of 8 en route to 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists.
Clarkson/Leigh's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Pender, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-1.
Clarkson/Leigh will take on Wakefield at 4:00 p.m. on January 25th. As for Pender, they will square off against Wisner-Pilger at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pender has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
