Softball Game Preview: Babcock Trailblazers vs. Island Coast Gators

The Babcock Trailblazers will challenge the Island Coast Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Babcock's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.

If Babcock beats Island Coast with 21 runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Babcock beat Dunbar on Tuesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 21-1. Considering the Trailblazers have won five games by more than 11 runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Brooklyn Mills made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, AJ Macia and Emmie Barritt did most of the damage at the plate: Macia scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Barritt scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Bry Tressel was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Babcock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .781. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Island Coast came up short against Oasis on Tuesday, falling 19-4. The Gators haven't had much luck with the Sharks recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Babcock pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Island Coast, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
