Softball Recap: Hicksville's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Hicksville dropped their record down to 6-10 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Hilltop Cadets by a score of 6-4. The Aces were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cadets from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Evy McAlexander was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

As for Hilltop, their win bumped their record up to 14-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since March 27th.

On Hilltop's side, Kelsy Connolly made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Connolly has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sophia Crossgrove was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and four RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hicksville will face off against Tinora at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.93 runs per game on average), something the Aces will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hilltop, they will challenge North Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
