Basketball Recap: Southington Finds Playoff Glory Versus New Britain

Southington had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the New Britain Golden Hurricanes, posting a 70-43 win. The Blue Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 matches by 21 points or more this season.

Southington had a senior duo take command as Isabella Leggett shot 47% from the field to rack up 24 points and Lily Cooper shot 5-for-8 from downtown and dropped a double-double with 19 points and 11 boards. Those 11 rebounds gave Cooper a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Blanchard, who went 5-for-10 en route to 12 points and seven boards.

The victory (which was Southington's 19th in a row) raised their record to 24-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.1 points over those games. As for New Britain, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.
