Basketball Recap: Bastrop Takes a Loss

Bastrop was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were beaten by the Cedar Creek Eagles 79-38. The Bears were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Cedar Creek was led to victory by Kenji Franklin and Nomar Ruvalcaba. Franklin dropped a double-double on 30 points and 13 rebounds, while Ruvalcaba posted 16 points along with five assists and four steals. Franklin has been hot, having posted nine or more boards the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Braydon Adams, who had ten points.

Bastrop's defeat dropped their record down to 9-17. As for Cedar Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 15-13 record this season.

Bastrop will be playing in front of their home fans against Navarro at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bastrop is facing Navarro at the right time seeing as Navarro is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Cedar Creek, they will square off against Anderson at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cedar Creek is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61 points per game this season.
