Basketball Recap: Augusta E Comes Up Short

Augusta E was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were outmatched by the Coastal HomeSchool Hurricanes and fell 65-36. The Eagles were down 46-25 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Augusta E's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jude Brouwer, who posted 19 points and five steals. That was a full 52.8% of Augusta E's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ben Briley, who put up nine points and three blocks.

Coastal HomeSchool had a senior duo take command as Colin Wood went 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points in addition to seven boards and three steals and Micah Faith went 6 for 9 en route to 16 points. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for Wood. Sawyer Wigley was another key player, putting up ten points.

Augusta E's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Coastal HomeSchool, their record is now 15-9.

Augusta E has already played their next match, a 64-59 defeat against Milledgeville Athletic Club on the 25th. As for Coastal HomeSchool, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 86-45 victory against Alleluia Community on the 18th.
