Basketball Game Preview: Brookwood Broncos vs. Hillgrove Hawks

The Brookwood Broncos will take on the Hillgrove Hawks on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Brookwood is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They secured a 59-53 W over South Forsyth. The victory continues a trend for the Broncos in their matchups with the War Eagles: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Hillgrove had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.7 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They breezed past the Comets to the tune of 71-44. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Brookwood better focus on containing Yolanda Floyd and Kierra Jackson as the pair were huge in Hillgrove's win. Floyd went 7-for-17 en route to 21 points and four steals, while Jackson went 6-for-12 to rack up 17 points and four steals. What's more, Jackson also posted a 50% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aeris Macon, who posted nine points and five rebounds.

Brookwood pushed their record up to 18-11 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points over those games. As for Hillgrove, their victory bumped their record up to 21-7.

Brookwood beat Hillgrove 49-38 when the teams last played back in November of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brookwood since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
