The Westminster Catawba Christian Indians will head out on the road to square off against the Hickory Christian Academy Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westminster Catawba Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Westminster Catawba Christian didn't have quite enough to beat Community Christian Academy and fell 8-7.
Braden Campolo put in work no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Campolo wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brooks Minarik, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Minarik has become a key player for Westminster Catawba Christian: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Another was James Reinhardt, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Even though they lost, Westminster Catawba Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Hickory Christian Academy and North Hills Christian, and Hickory Christian Academy kept the tradition alive. Hickory Christian Academy came out on top against North Hills Christian by a score of 11-6 on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won eight in a row.
Like Westminster Catawba Christian, Hickory Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Samuel Yount. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Yount a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.
Hickory Christian Academy's record is now 4-2. As for Westminster Catawba Christian, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Westminster Catawba Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Hickory Christian Academy in their previous matchup on Friday, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westminster Catawba Christian since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
