Recap: Cupertino Pioneers vs. Fremont Firebirds
It was a good run, but the Cupertino Pioneers unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Fremont by a score of 47-45. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Cupertino came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Fremont is ranked 329th).
Cupertino lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Max Feldan, who scored ten points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Houma Yoshimochi, who scored 12 points.
Cupertino's loss dropped their record down to 9-1. As for Fremont, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.
Cupertino will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Independence at 7:00 p.m. on December 20th. Fremont will be home for the holidays to greet Capuchino at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
