Softball Recap: Desert Vista's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Desert Vista entered their tilt with Valley Vista on Wednesday with five consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with six. Everything went their way against the Valley Vista Monsoon as they made off with a 21-1 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Thunder also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2018.

Thailee Jones made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and five RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Desert Vista let Ava Briski and Kristina Mendoza run wild. Briski scored four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Mendoza scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Mendoza a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Mckenzie Leitgen, who scored four runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Desert Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley Vista only posted an OBP of .273.

Desert Vista's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. As for Valley Vista, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Desert Vista didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 19-1 win against Cesar Chavez on the 13th. As for Valley Vista, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 31-11 defeat against Mesa on the 6th.
