Football Recap: Kingwood Starts off Right with Win over Clear Creek + How To Watch

Kingwood gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They blew past the Clear Creek Wildcats, posting a 38-0 victory. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 441st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

A big part of Kingwood's win came down to the chemistry between Landon Hinson and his top target Kye Wehby. Hinson threw for 173 yards and three TDs while Wehby picked up 100 receiving yards and one touchdown. That's the most passing touchdowns Hinson has posted since back in October of 2024.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Kingwood, adding 14 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Wehby, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Coming up, Kingwood will face off against La Porte at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th. As for Clear Creek, they will square off against Shadow Creek at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th.
