Basketball Recap: Amarian Leggett Key Part of a Team Effort in Bruins Win

There's no place like home for Blackford, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They took down the Jay County Patriots 56-41 on Saturday. For the Bruins, this counts as revenge for the 56-43 victory the Patriots walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Blackford's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amarian Leggett, who went 5 for 7 to rack up 16 points and five assists. The dominant performance also gave Leggett a new career-high in shooting accuracy (71%). Mason Kitterman was another key player, dropping a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Leggett wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Blackford was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They racked up six more assists than Jay County's also-impressive total of 11.

Jay County's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cole Forthofer, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Tucker Griffin, who posted eight points and six assists.

Blackford's record now sits at 11-7. As for Jay County, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-7.

Blackford will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Wes-Del at 7:30 p.m. on February 11th. Wes-Del is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.5 points per game this season. As for Jay County, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 77-25 victory against Southern Wells on the 6th.
