Softball Game Preview: Douglas Byrd Eagles vs. South View Tigers

Douglas Byrd is 0-10 against South View since February of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Douglas Byrd Eagles are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will face off against the South View Tigers at 6:00 p.m.

Douglas Byrd is leaving town to face South View after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. Douglas Byrd came up short against Jack Britt on Tuesday, falling 19-2. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it 19 in a row.

Meanwhile, South View put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Seventy-First a 16-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won three contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

KAYLIE COOK made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). COOK was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, PAIGE FORD was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was DESTINY SHOULARS, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

South View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .722. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
