Recap: Red Lake Warriors vs. Kelliher/Northome Mustangs
The Red Lake Warriors suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Kelliher/Northome on the road and fell 103-42. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Red Lake in their matchups with Kelliher/Northome: they've now lost six in a row.
Kelliher/Northome's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kate Thayer led the charge by dropping a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. Thayer is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Ella Thayer was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Red Lake dropped their record down to 4-9 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Kelliher/Northome, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-2.
Red Lake will take on Bagley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Kelliher/Northome, they will head out on the road to take on Blackduck at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Blackduck will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Minnesota Rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Kelliher/Northome is ranked 79th).
