Baseball Recap: Connell Takes a Loss

Connell extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 13-4. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Royal Knights. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

As for Royal, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.

For Royal's part, Ernie Weeks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks. Weeks has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Royal saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryan Larsen, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Larsen has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Isreal Ramirez was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Royal beat Connell by a score of 6-5 later that day.
