3A District 5 recap November 5, 2013
Bourbon County added to the longest winning streak in 3A District 5 this week by beating George Rogers Clark, 41-0. The win marks 10th in a row for the the Colonels.
Western Hills lost to Shelby County 62-20 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Tyler Ishmael made the biggest impact on defense this week as Bourbon County beat the Cardinals. He racked up 2 sacks.
Matthew Brooks threw for 217 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 7-13 with 0 interceptions.
Brett Goodwin was the best wideout in the league this week as Powell County defeated Morgan County. Goodwin racked up 5 receptions for 182 yards. Steven Skidmore helped Powell County's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 35 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Dalton Pope and Brent Holman, John Hodge's team has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Pope is tops in the league in passing with 1,331 yards, while Holman has rushed for 1,398 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is the Pirates' Goodwin, with 757 yards on 40 catches.
Estill County led the league in scoring this week by notching 49 points on McCreary Central. Trevor Jones threw for 81 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 60 yards in the win.
