Basketball Game Preview: Cotter Ramblers vs. Chatfield Gophers

Cotter and Chatfield are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Cotter Ramblers will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Chatfield Gophers at 7:15 p.m. Cotter will be strutting in after a victory while Chatfield will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with six losses in a row, Cotter turned things around against Lewiston-Altura on Tuesday. They snuck past the Cardinals with a 54-50 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Ramblers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while the Cardinals are ranked 130th).

Meanwhile, Chatfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were beaten by Fillmore Central 70-35. The match marked the Gophers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Chatfield's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Cotter, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-9.

Cotter strolled past Chatfield when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a score of 61-47. Will Cotter repeat their success, or does Chatfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
