Soccer Game Preview: Brighton vs. Alta

The Brighton Bengals will venture away from home to take on the Alta Hawks at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Brighton has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Alta will arrive with seven straight wins.

Brighton managed to keep up with East until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Brighton came up short against East, falling 5-2. While losing is never fun, Brighton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah soccer rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while East are ranked fifth).

Meanwhile, Alta made easy work of West on Friday and carried off a 4-1 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 3-0.

Brighton's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Alta, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.

Brighton came out on top in a nail-biter against Alta when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brighton since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
