Recap: Marion County Eagles vs. Taylor County Vikings
After flying high against the Chattahoochee County Panthers last Friday, The Marion County Eagles came back down to earth. Marion County fell just short of Taylor County by a score of 22-20. Marion County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Taylor County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Kelby Tymes and Jayden Richardson, Marion County certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Tymes rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown, while Richardson rushed for 53 yards and two touchdowns. Richardson hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games.
Taylor County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cameron Lawhorn out in front who threw for 134 yards and two touchdowns. Taylor County also got help from Kimonni Saunders who showed off his sure hands for 108 receiving yards.
Marion County's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Taylor County, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
Marion County will be playing in front of their home fans against Schley County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Schley County is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road. As for Taylor County, they will take on Macon County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Macon County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Taylor County in Georgia (Macon County is ranked 140th, while Taylor County is ranked 341st).
