Hazleton Area won the last time they faced State College and things went their way  on Saturday too. The Cougars were the clear victors by  a  9-1 margin over the Little Lions. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won eight matchups by six  runs or more  so far this season.
 Fred Corrado tossed a big game,   pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off   five  hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
 On the hitting side,  Bryant Diaz was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one  home run and two  RBI. That  home run marked the first that  he has  launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of  Nick Ledger, who  went 3-for-4 with three  RBI and two  doubles.
 Hazleton Area  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .611. That's the best  OBP they've posted all season.
Hazleton Area pushed their record up to 13-5 with the  victory, which was their seventh straight  at home. The  home  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for State College, they now  have a losing record of 10-11.
 Looking ahead, Hazleton Area will head out on the road to  square off against  Central Mountain  at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. State College does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
