Softball Game Preview: Brookville Blue Devils vs. West Carrollton Pirates

The Brookville Blue Devils will challenge the West Carrollton Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Carrollton took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Brookville, who comes in off a win.

Brookville gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 6-3 win over Dixie. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Greyhounds recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Rylan Eagle made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double.

In other batting news, Ella Nutter was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Maya Haydon, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, West Carrollton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Tippecanoe, falling 18-0.

West Carrollton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Brookville, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.

Brookville took their victory against West Carrollton in their previous matchup back in April of 2017 by a conclusive 14-2 score. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
