Basketball Game Preview: Bloomington North Cougars vs. Center Grove Trojans

The Bloomington North Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Center Grove Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bloomington North is headed out to face Center Grove after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Cougars blew past Bedford North Lawrence 71-50 last Tuesday. The Cougars pushed the score to 57-34 by the end of the third, a deficit the Stars cut but never quite recovered from.

Bloomington North's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Derrick Cross Jr., who shot 44% from the field on his way to 23 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds, and Levi Lindeman, who went 6-for-8 to rack up 18 points. Nathan Walker was another key player, putting up eight points along with seven assists and five boards.

Meanwhile, Center Grove didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Franklin Community on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 45-40 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.

Bloomington North ended up a good deal behind Center Grove when the teams last played back in December of 2024, losing 52-36. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
