Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Memorial

Memorial waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Independence Knights 18-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-1 back in March.

Megan Wilson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Caiden Coleman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Haven Parr was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Memorial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .444 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Memorial's record now sits at 12-9. As for Independence, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Memorial is set to challenge their familiar foe Emerson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Independence will face off against rival Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
