The Denham Springs Yellowjackets will head out on the road to face off against the Mt. Carmel Cubs at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Denham Springs will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Denham Springs ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They secured a 43-37 W over Fontainebleau. Given Denham Springs' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Fontainebleau is ranked 57th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mt. Carmel posted their closest victory yet this season last Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Newman and snuck past 38-36. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Mt. Carmel.
Denham Springs is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. As for Mt. Carmel, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.
Denham Springs beat Mt. Carmel 36-26 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Denham Springs since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
