Baseball Recap: Buffalo Grove Comes Up Short

Buffalo Grove was the 3-1 winner over Schaumburg when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Bison fell just short of the Saxons by a score of 5-4 on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that the Bison have lost by just one run.

Buffalo Grove saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justin Smart, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Buffalo Grove and nudges their season record down to 4-10-2. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Schaumburg, they moved to 6-10 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Looking ahead, Buffalo Grove is taking a road trip to square off against Evanston at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Schaumburg, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hoffman Estates at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Saxons are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
