Volleyball Game Preview: Monta Vista Matadors vs. Lynbrook Vikings

Monta Vista is 2-8 against Lynbrook since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Matadors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 6:45 p.m. Monta Vista will be strutting in after a win while Lynbrook will be coming in after a defeat.

Monta Vista will bounce into Monday's contest after beating Harker, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Matadors walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Eagles on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Matadors.

Monta Vista had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 26-28, 25-21, 26-24, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Lynbrook was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Homestead.

While Lynbrook ultimately came up short, they really made Homestead work, particularly in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 23-25, 27-25, 25-21.

Lynbrook's defeat dropped their record down to 12-16. As for Monta Vista, their win bumped their record up to 21-11.

Monta Vista couldn't quite get it done against Lynbrook in their previous matchup back in April as they fell 3-1. Can the Matadors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
