Softball Recap: Kennewick Comes Up Short

After flying high against Pasco last Friday, Kennewick came back down to earth. The Lions fell 11-8 to the Southridge Suns on Tuesday. The Lions have struggled against the Suns recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Rylee Bendewald was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs and three runs while going 3-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Alayna Goodnight, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Kennewick's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Southridge, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Kennewick will take on Hermiston at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 13.2 runs per game this season. As for Southridge, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Chiawana at 4:00 p.m. The Suns' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Riverhawks have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season.
