Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Christian Bulldogs vs. Heritage Pioneers

The Liberty Christian Bulldogs will take on the Heritage Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, everything came up roses for Liberty Christian against Amherst County as the team secured a 72-26 victory. That 46 point margin sets a new team best for the Bulldogs this season.

Meanwhile, Heritage entered their tilt with Gretna on Wednesday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They walked away with a 67-60 win over the Hawks. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Pioneers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Hawks are ranked 46th).

Heritage is also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Liberty Christian, they pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Liberty Christian strolled past Heritage in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 59-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Liberty Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
