Softball Recap: Lakeside Starts Season with Loss at Home

Lakeside unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Logansport Tigers by a score of 9-7 on Tuesday. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Teal Austin was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Emily Jones was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeside is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Downsville at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The last three games Lakeside has played (dating back to last season) have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Logansport, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Beekman Charter at 5:00 p.m. on February 18th.
