Baseball Recap: Elk Grove Has No Trouble Against Hoffman Estates

Elk Grove's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They put the hurt on the Hoffman Estates Hawks with a sharp 9-3 victory. The Grenadiers haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Myles Schwartz made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Robbie Bibian was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted over his last eight games. Another player making a difference was Jake McLane, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Elk Grove's victory bumped their record up to 9-20. As for Hoffman Estates, their loss was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-23.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elk Grove will venture away from home to square off against St. Francis at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Hoffman Estates, they will head out to face off against Streamwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
