Softball Recap: Clairemont Chieftains vs. Southwest EC Eagles

Clairemont scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Monday. They had just enough and edged the Southwest EC Eagles out 12-11. The victory was just what Clairemont needed coming off of a 10-1 defeat in their prior game.

Clairemont got a massive performance out of Madison Finley, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI and a run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Cain, who went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.

On Southwest EC's side, Kaydence Wiewel was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and a triple. Another player making a difference was Delylah Santiago, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

Clairemont's win bumped their record up to 7-3-1. As for Southwest EC, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7-2 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clairemont will face off against West Hills at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Southwest EC, they are on the road again on Tuesday to play Brawley at 6:30 p.m. Brawley is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
